What is the difference between an Alugas bottle outlet with a German connection and a Belgian-French connection?
- German connection: seal (O-ring) on the bottle
- Belgian French connection: seal is on your gas hose
- If you have a seal on your gas hose: always choose the Belgian bottle with a yellow tap.
You can find the possible hose connections on the following link:
Possible hose connections
- Fits on German bottle: 1+4+5+6
- Fits on Belgian-French bottle: 1+2+3+5+6+7D
- The Kombi connection fits both the Belgian and German bottles.
If you are not sure which bottle you need, send me a picture of the bottle you wish to replace or of the gas hose (inside nut hose).
Alugas bottles with a Belgian-French connection have a yellow manual tap, the bottles with a blue tap have a German tap. The type of tap is the only difference.
I don't have enough gas pressure coming out of the tap. What could be the cause of this?
- Flow restrictor on the bottle has tripped.
There is a flow restrictor on the tap. It is possible that it has come into effect. To switch it off, it is sufficient to close the tap again and then slowly open it again.
A flow limiter is a safety device that kicks in if there is an abnormally large flow. If you put the bottle outside without connections, you will see that the tap closes itself when you open it.
- Flow restrictor on the hose has tripped.
If you have a crash sensor (from Truma or Caramatic): there is also a button on the hose on the hose to the bottle. This is also a flow restrictor. If it has come into effect, you can turn it off by pressing the button.
- There is only butane in the bottle and it is too cold outside.
LPG is a mixture of butane and propane. The difference between butane and propane gas is the boiling point (temperature at which the gas changes from liquid to gas and vice versa). With butane it is 0 °C and with propane -44 °C. This means that butane gas becomes liquid and therefore unusable for cooking or heating at a temperature lower than 0 °C. Butane gas is therefore not suitable for the winter months (or in cold conditions in the summer, for example in the high mountains). To get the butane out of the bottle you will have to heat the bottle, you can work with an electric blanket for this.
