AEB 351/4 Lambda Probe Simulator Resistive Type - Titanium Dioxide Oxygen Sensor Emulator for LPG Autogas Systems

Function and Application

The AEB 351/4 is a specialized lambda simulator designed for resistive type oxygen sensors, also known as titanium dioxide or titania lambda probes. This emulator is essential for vehicles with LPG installations or CNG systems that use resistive sensors instead of standard voltage-based zirconia sensors. The device simulates the resistance change of an original titania probe when the engine runs on gas, preventing the engine management system (ECU) from generating error codes and activating the Check Engine light.

Technical Specifications

Resistive lambda sensors operate with a 5V reference voltage from the engine control unit and change their electrical resistance depending on the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gases. With a lean mixture (high oxygen), resistance is high (above 20,000 Ohm) and output signal is low (0.1-0.2V). With a rich mixture (low oxygen), resistance is low and signal is high (4.5-5V). The AEB 351/4 simulator perfectly emulates this resistance characteristic, allowing the ECU to receive correct information during autogas use. The device operates with a power supply voltage of 10-14 VDC.

Installation and Use

The resistive lambda emulator is installed between the original titania probe and the engine management system. Titanium dioxide sensors are recognizable by their three or four wires and often have red or yellow insulation. With correct installation, the emulator intercepts the resistive signal and adjusts it so the petrol ECU detects no faults when driving on LPG. This is especially important because LPG engines require a different air-fuel ratio (15.6:1) than petrol (14.7:1), which without an emulator would lead to error codes.

Benefits

Using this lambda simulator for resistive sensors offers crucial advantages: no engine error messages, optimal gas dosing, maintenance of engine performance and prevention of limp mode. The emulator ensures correct engine management operation during LPG conversion, even when the catalytic converter is removed or defective. This product is indispensable for professional LPG installers working with brands like BMW, Nissan, Jaguar and Land Rover that use titania lambda probes.
